- High and medium potency: treat for less than 6-8 weeks
- Low potency: treat facial, intertriginous, and genital dermatoses for 1-2 week intervals to avoid side effects like skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and steroid-induced acne
- Stop tx when skin condition resolves (to avoid rebound/flares) → if necessary, taper with gradual reduction of potency and dosing frequency
